Progress Being Made on New Building

5 September, 2017 Sioux Falls, SD - We're making progress!! Completion is estimated to be just in time to ring in the new year and we are right on schedule. As you can see, the walls are starting to go up and we are excited to be one step closer to our facility being opened. Located at the corner of N. Northview Ave and W. 54th St. North near the Sanford sports complex, this site will not only allow us to run our company wide operations, but also implement training programs that will assist in improving the knowledge and safety both company and industry wide.

28 August, 2017 Sioux Falls, SD - It was a pleasure for Sioux Falls Tower to join our associates and Senator John Thune at the South Dakota Technology Showcase today. This event highlights the innovative trends across the state including futuristic technologies like drones and self driving cars, as well as technologies that effect us every day. We are still, as a community, working on combating things like the lack of access to high speed internet and quality cell phone coverage in the more rural parts of our state. It is events like this that allow us to come together to present ideas and projects with elimination of these issues in mind.

29 June, 2017 Sioux Falls, SD - Summer Training Days are upon us! "Safety is very important to us at Sioux Falls Tower as is the continual training of our field crews. That's why each year we pause in January and in July to take time to retrain our crews and provide job related experiences," says COO Mike Young. Sioux Falls Tower completes training at each of its locations. Topics include rigging, first aid, rescue and many others.

13 June, 2017 Sioux Falls, SD - Progress is being made on the new Sioux Falls Tower Location as we are now proudly associated with the Governor's Office through a REDI Fund Loan. According to Gov. Dennis Daugaard, “Sioux Falls Tower is an example of a grassroots company whose humble beginnings have ultimately made it a South Dakota success story" and it's a story we are proud of. Craig Snyder, our CEO and founder explains, "It’s more than just a low-cost of doing business. Sure the low-interest financing programs offered by the Governor’s Office of Economic Development (GOED) are attractive, but it’s more about the Midwest work ethic, the humble and genuine attitude of the people who work and live here. That’s really what makes it worth it."

5 June, 2017 Sioux Falls, SD - Kevin Schmidt received the Patriotic Employer award from the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR). This award is given to exemplary employers who honor and support active military by complying with the Uniformed Servicers Employment and Reemployment Rights Act (USERRA). Schmidt, a Project Manager in our Sioux Falls office, was nominated by Tyler Hein, one of our Sioux Falls Crew Chiefs and proud member of the South Dakota National Guard. Upon receiving this award, Schmidt said, "It is an honor to have our employees serve in the military. We make every effort to comply with their schedules and support them in their duties. We appreciate the values and leadership Service members bring to our workforce." Established in 1972, ESGR is a program within the Defense Department promoting cooperation between civilian employers and National Guard and Reserve workforce. Sioux Falls Tower currently employs five veterans and active service military personal.

1 June, 2017 Des Moines, IA - Bart Roberts and Craig Snyder spoke to a group of 80 members of the Nebraska/Iowa Wireless Association in Des Moines, IA. The duo was asked to address the topic of anchor corrosion and the risks of tower failure due to corrosion. Roberts began by telling the story of his near fatal fall with a tower he was inspecting when an anchor gave way toppling the tower with him on it. Snyder followed up by explaining the process of galvanic corrosion and the risks to towers and personnel that climb them. Bill Baughman, association president said, "this is an important topic for our members to understand and one we all need to be aware of with the potential risks for tower owners and climbers". The meeting was held at the Des Moines Cubs stadium where the group enjoyed watching the Cubs play later that evening. NE/IA Wireless recently donated $10,000 to Project Harmony, the local charity they sponsor.

29 May, 2017 Sioux Falls, SD - Employees and associates gathered to celebrate the ground breaking for the new corporate office for Sioux Falls Tower and Communications on Tuesday, May 30, 2017. The new building will be 25,000 square feet located at the corner of N. Northview Ave and W. 54th St. North near the Sanford sports complex. It will sit on six acres of land that will allow for growth and a state-of-the-art training facility. President & CEO, Craig Snyder, kicked off the ceremony by talking about the company's humble beginnings and Sioux Falls Tower’s successes within the past 30 plus years, “Faith and perseverance have been common themes that have helped us get to this point within the organization.” He further expressed that this building stands as a symbol of that growth and heritage. Completion of the new facility is scheduled before the end of the year.

South Dakota Congressional Delegation Honors Tower Workers

11 May, 2017 Washington, DC - From "Inside Towers" NATE will unveil this morning a commemoration declaring today, Thursday, May 11, 2017, Tower Technician Appreciation Day. This day has been set aside by NATE to coincide with OSHA’s National Safety Stand-Down Week in order to pay tribute to the important work that tower technicians conduct on a daily basis to enable a mobile society.

NATE was joined by U.S. Senator John Thune (R-SD), Chairman of the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation in honoring the work of the men and women who deploy and maintain America’s communications infrastructure.

“It’s a privilege to join NATE to congratulate and thank the dedicated men and women who work in South Dakota and around the country to build, upgrade, and maintain our nation’s communication towers and infrastructure,” said Sen. Thune. “Tower erectors and technicians put in long hours and hard work, and they possess a unique set of skills that is essential to effectively deploy today’s wireless broadband network and lay the groundwork for the 5G network of the future.”

1 May, 2017 Ensino, NM - Rylin Jensen was named the "Way to Go" recipient for the month of March. Jensen, a crew chief at Sioux Falls Tower, was singled out for accomplishing a feat seldom accomplished. He was able to stack-out four 80 meter self supporting towers in a day and a half. Jensen's project manager, Eric Rodenborn, a former crew chief with a great deal of experience in stacking self supports said, "that's a very hard thing to do." Way to go Rylin and the rest of your crew, Justin Cline, Trace Plathe and Nick McCray!

Snyder and Roberts Talk Anchor Corrosion

29 March, 2017 Niagara Falls, Ontario - Co-owners Craig Snyder and Bart Roberts spoke to a group of tower professionals at the Canadian STAC conference in Niagara Falls, Ontario on the subject a preventing guy anchor failures due to underground corrosion. Anchor corrosion is a subject of great importance to Mr. Snyder and Mr. Roberts as both were first-hand witnesses to the failure of a tower due to anchor corrosion with Mr. Roberts having riden the tower to the ground.

STAC Program Manager, Nick Kyonka stated after the presentation, "I get the feeling that your presentation started to make some people really think about how those towers are coming of age, and how they can’t just rely on the fact that they haven’t had failures before when trying to predict the future. I strongly suspect your presentation last month will save at least one Canadian climber’s life over the next few years, if not more. Needless to say, your passion for sharing this important information is greatly appreciated by myself and the STAC Steering Committee."

6 March, 2017 Rapid City, SD - Tyler Birdwell was promoted to Project Manager in the company's Rapid City regional office. Birdwell started with the company in August 2013 and quickly moved through the ranks to become crew chief. The Rapid City office continues to grow creating an opening for a new project manager. Birdwell has come to know most of the customers through his time with the company and is excited to be a resource for them serving from the office instead of the pickup truck cab. We congratulate Tyler for promotion to this important position in the company.

6 March, 2017 Sioux Falls, SD - Sioux Falls Tower has named Brandon Foster its safety coordinator, a new position for the company. Foster will serve beside Todd Thorin, the company's long time Director of Safety and Training. Foster started with the company in March 2008 as a field technician. His specialty is with rigging with a great deal of experience in the "tall tower" sector. Foster has a passion for safety and his hallmark in the field was his attention to detail and excellent demeanor with the crews. With almost 10 years of field experience he brings a wealth of knowledge and is eager to begin to train new hires and crew chiefs. We welcome Brandon into this new position within the company.

28 February, 2017 Ft Worth, TX - Sioux Falls Tower & Communications president, Craig Snyder, was awarded the National Association of Tower Erectors William F. Carlson Lifetime Service Award at the NATE Unite 2017 keynote session in Ft Worth Texas in March. This is NATE's most prestigious award. Mr. Snyder responded with gratitude for the many people who help build the networks that significantly enhance the quality of life of human kind giving special praise to his wife Kristin for her support throughout his career.

27 February, 2017 Ft Worth, TX - Todd Thorin, Director of Safety and Training at Sioux Falls Tower was given the job of producing and directing the popular Climber Connection videos for the National Association of Tower Erectors. He displayed the second in the series of videos at the NATE Unite show in Ft Worth, TX this month. Thorin was given the job based on his vast experience in the tower industry and talent and skills with video production. He has assembled a noteworthy team of videographers, writers and editors as well as the now iconic actor Ryan Van Duser who ends each monthly video with the memorable line "be safe my friends".

Thorin has been helping produce training videos for NATE for many years in addition to his duties at Sioux Falls Tower. But production of this series of videos has taken his skills and talents to the next level. Thorin is also a skilled drone pilot and the producer of many dramatic productions including the viral Youtube video "1500' TV Tower" which depicts another noteworthy SFT employee, Kevin Schmidt changing the light bulb atop a TV tower outside Sioux Falls.

Sioux Falls Tower is honored to have such a prominent figure within the industry at the helm of safety within the company. We look forward along with the rest of the industry to seeing each video as it's released throughout the year.

16 January, 2017 Denver, CO - Sioux Falls Tower has opened an operational office in Denver Colorado. With the acquisition we are pleased to announce several new local crews specializing in tower, civil and DAS installations. Territory Vice President, Leland Langstraat, stated, "The addition of the Denver office gives Sioux Falls Tower a presence in Colorado with close access to the adjacent states and is a perfect fit with our Rapid City and Utah offices."

Sioux Falls Tower welcomes an excellent management team and quality crews to our growing family of offices in the great plains and mountain states.

4 January, 2017 Orem, UT - Nicholas Hauck was named Project Manager and assigned to the Orem, UT office. Hauck started with Sioux Falls Tower as a green technician in 2011 working his way through the ranks as crew chief and now project manager. His distinguishing characteristic is his eternal optimism and can-do attitude. Ever willing to take on a challenge and see it through to completion. Our intermountain customers will be very pleased with Hauck's addition to the Utah office.

May 1, 2016 Orem, UT - Sioux Falls Tower merged with long-time affiliate Intermountain Tower Specialists, Inc. of Orem, UT. The new company will retain the name Sioux Falls Tower & Communications. Intermountain Tower has been a strong presence in the intermountain west serving a variety of wireless and telecom clients. "With the merger the two companies will now open opportunities to bring greater benefit and more broad based services to our clients from the great plains to the west coast", said Craig Snyder, company president.

Sioux Falls Tower welcomes David Moyar, Joe Plainer and the rest of the team to our growing family.

Kevin Schmidt Named to NWSA Board of Governors

30 July, 2015 Overland Park, KS – Kevin Schmidt, a Project Manager with Sioux Falls Tower was recently elected to the Board of Governors for the National Wireless Safety Alliance (NWSA). Schmidt will represent tower climbers and their perspective on the board. NWSA is national non-profit assessment and certification organization within the industry whose purpose is to standardize safety and training among tower technicians. The Board of Governors consist of representatives from a broad cross-section of the industry and will be tasked with developing policy and overseeing the activities of the various Committees that will serve under the NWSA Board of Governors. “As an active climber, I bring a wealth of knowledge from the field to the Board and a perspective of what needs be provided to allow every tower technician to make it home at the end of the day, every day,” exclaimed Kevin Schmidt. Kevin has been with Sioux Falls Tower for more than 10 years as a tower technician and quickly moved through the ranks to his present position as a Project Manager.
